The Whisper that Vanished

There are moments in our journey where we reach the edge of our own strength, where the only path forward is surrender.  This parable is one of those moments for me.  It’s a story wrapped in symbolism, rooted in truth, and filled with grace I encountered when I finally laid my fears down and gave them to God.

There once was a woman who lived with a voice inside her mind.

It wasn’t hers, but it has been with her for so long, she almost believes it was.

It spoke fear, shame, doubt.

It told her she was unworthy, unlovable, broken.

She tried to quiet it.

She spoke louder, ran farther, worked harder.

But the whisper remained.

Until one evening, she sat with the voice, not to argue, but to listen.

She wrote down every word it has ever spoken.

One by one, like stones laid out before a river.

Then she did the only thing she had never done:

She placed the stones at the feet of something greater than herself.

She whispered a prayer.

She surrendered everything word that has ever been spoken to God.

And when she woke, the whisper was gone.

Not because she defeated it,

But because she no longer claimed it.

What remained was silence.

And in that silence, she heard her own soul sing for the first time.

There is power in surrender.  There is healing in silence.  And when we lay down the weight that was never ours to carry, we make room for truth to rise.  Jesus said the more you focus on Me, the more I can strengthen you.  In fact, I am your STRENGTH!

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

1 Peter 5:7

Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Matthew 11:28-30

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind.
